CRM Designs

Client Relationship Manager

Fintech

I recently gained insights to a sales and business development team that buy and sell stocks for a top Australian company. The team regularly travel overseas for business with clients and want to be easily document interactions such as meetings and phone calls and share these with their global teams. In my design solution, the UI reflects the experiential need for a real time, modular and client focussed application. To be technically relevant it had to have cloud integration with any existing platforms used by the business. You can view the journey map and inspiration moodboard then check out the mobile mockups and lastly the clickable desktop prototype using the link below.

Shared Investment App design

Social Investment App UX

Fintech

This app design for a shared savings and investment account considers social interactions and visualisations that motivate banking customers towards a goal. A group of friends want to pool and grow money together with a social account that has an investment component so the money grows over time. Each customer determines the investment options for their share of the money. This exercise showcases both my ability to rapidly ideate a design concept, produce low fidelity mockups and finally the pixel perfect UI.

Desktop design for a construction industry

Desktop website for a construction company

Fintech

A local remedial and heritage repair construction company has recently undergone a slight re-branding, acquiring a newly designed logo with a green primary color (#017E6A) and new brand fonts (Proxima and Domain Display). Here is a link to the current website design. The client has requested to see a concept/mock up of how a new website might look. Key words used by the client to describe what they’re expecting include: modern, wow factor, less wordy. View the link below to see what I came up with using Sketch in 48 hours.

Business Information System UX

Business Information System UX

Analytics and BIS

This responsive business analytics app designed to support effective working relationships between retailers and suppliers, providing better coordination and communication to help drive efficiencies along the supply chain. As part of my research I considered how organizations use dashboards to display the KPIs and metrics that are core to their business to enable consumption of data and actionable insights. The app aims to provide a best-in-class Business Information System; and a user experience that motivates and simplifies B2B activities. I enjoyed working as the UX designer end-to-end on this responsive analytics app in collaboration with developers and data scientists.

User Personas

User Personas

User Research

The research and design of new user personas can usefully be based upon a whole of life approach to market segmentation. These original user personas consider how we attract, engage and retain users throughout their lives as their needs and interaction with products change. I produced these personas by leading strategic workshops with marketing and product stakeholders as well as conducting user interviews and surveys to discover customer insights and user behaviours.

Conference Event Template

Simple Design System

Responsive Design

Ensuring that a visual design is transferred through the development process into pixel perfect code is one of the biggest challenges faced by product D&D teams. Using design systems can help to prevent such problems. This event website was designed using Adobe XD in the 12 point grid system for desktop, tablet mobile. The system also identifies the most common UI elements requiring dynamic interactions - such as buttons and forms - as well as typography and iconography. The design was developed on the Adobe Experience Manager platform as a white-label template for marketing conference events.

Community radio AoD & podcast player

Product Design

In this showcase end-to-end UX design project for my studies at General Assembly is a proof of concept for a minimum viable product; an open-source community radio app. Collaborating with radio local station 4ZzZ 102.1 FM to imagine a redesign of their native mobile app, I conducted research to define the happy path to solving identified user needs and diverse accessibility requirements. Taking a lean approach to iterative design I produced a clickable prototype using Sketch and InVision. Download the presentation (5MB PDF) to open the app demo.

The Local phone app

Mobile App for Locavores and Farmers Markets

Product Design

The Local is a paper prototype app for local food lovers: it delivers information about the availability of produce at local farmer markets and seasonal fruits & vegetables. This project showcases my skills in user research, product development and visual design. Download my presentation of the end-to-end which explains the user centred design process, or simply view the high fidelity mockups. I produced this project in collaboration with two other post-graduate Masters students at UTS in 2012.

Pricing Page UX

Pricing pages UX

E-Commerce

Imagine a Hotel Cloud computing company with multiple products is adding a new product to their website pricing page and requires a mockup of the customer experience. The target demographic for the new product are smaller hotels, bed and breakfasts, and inns with less than 20 rooms. The other current products cater for all properties regardless of room size. Using Balsamiq, this low fidelity concept with recommendations illustrates my approach to funnelling users to the appropriate product without making them do extra work.

Material Design UX for Data Tables

Designing Tables

Material Design

Good data tables allow users to scan, analyze, compare, filter, sort, and manipulate information to derive insights and commit actions. My approach to designing data tables is focused on the reduction of complexity as well as the presentation of meaningful information for users to action. I utilised an interaction pattern for a filtered search functionality displayed with best practice Material Design elements.

The Zeigarnik Effect: Membership Profile UX

Human Centred Design

When users understand how easy maintaining a completed profile can be as well as the benefits, they're more likely to fully develop their profile. Use visual design to take more advantage of the Zeigarnik Effect: use some form of a completeness meter, such as a progress bar, task list, etc. This triggers a users’ desire for completion. Take advantage of users natural tendency to seek closure by incentivizing them to progress through your product by rewarding them.

Flights Status App Design

Designing for Context: Flights Status UX

Human Centred Design

A flight tracker app should allow you to find and glance at the status of a flight very quickly and easily. To reduce the effort of user entry we can consider the context of when the app may be used. If we think about when people actually start to look up a flight status, it is necessarily either today, yesterday (if delayed), or tomorrow (airline flight information typically becomes available upto 24 hours prior to departures or arrivals).

Guy Debord Quote App

Guy Debord Quote App

Personal project

I've long been inspired by the raw pastiche of the Letterists and Guy Debord; the author of The Society of the Spectacle. Considered a seminal text for the Situationist movement, the book presents the concept of the 'spectacle'. I designed a concept for an app that provided all the best quotes from the book with an emphasis on typography, photography and user control. Firstly I collated a visual moodboard using InVision to research creative approaches to quote UI and artistic references such as Barbara Kruger. Follow the link below to view a mockup for desktop and mobile.

In 2018 I designed a new responsive website for a community podcast/radio show using the Wordpress platform and Adobe Photoshop. The design follows the latest trends in music websites for full-width photography, card based content, animation and embedded audio players. FFF Radio is an electronic music program I present and produce for 4ZZZ 102.1FM in Brisbane. The program features exclusive guest DJ mixes, podcasts, interviews and written features from across the global forward thinking bass music scene.

Viking Traders App

Interactive

As part of my exciting experience with Firefly Interactive I was lucky enough to assist in the production of an interactive educational app. The Vikings exhibition showcased at the Australian National Maritime Museum brought to Sydney the treasures of the Viking world, including artifacts and replicas sourced from great European collections. For the exhibition we developed an immersive, interactive 32″ touchscreen kiosk that served to clarify the Vikings trading items, routes and settlements. Play the game online or find out more here.

School Mobile App

Product Design

During my time with the Firefly agency as a Digital UX Producer, I supported the product design and development of an app for primary and secondary school communities. By sending XML from a Wordpress CMS, schools can update content to their own branded app. Using contextual research we identified the core needs of schools and built functionality to fit; a calendar of events, sports fixtures, transport to school and absenteeism.

Sound and Theatre Design

The Instant Cafe Theatre is an exciting and bold independent theatre group from Kuala Lumpur. The ICT hosted me as part of the Asialink residency program of theatre sound design, poetry, and political comedy. During my residency I lived and worked with local artists on theatre produ tions, exhbitions and performances across Kuala Lumpur. Since 1991 Asialink's Arts Residency Program has provided professional development opportunities for arts professionals working in and across artforms, in exchange for the sharing of skills, knowledge and networks with local host communities. Supported by the Australia Arts Council and University of Melbourne Asialink program.

As a freelance music journalist I assisted this online music and ticketing startup to grow its local and international audiences. Based in Sydney with bureaus in London, New York and Brazil, Pulse Radio hosts club events whilst fostering an online mixtape community with dance music news, features & interviews. As the Sydney editor-in-chief I was responsible for strategic content creation and marketing to social media channels. I led a team of writers in-house and partnered with big brand music events and record labels around Australia. I also contributed several dozen of my own feature articles using my strong connections to the Sydney dance music industry.

QUIZ Cat

QLD Underground & Independent Zine Catalgue

In 2002 I curated a showcase of the zine and comic community. A Zine is an indpendently and DIY publication. As part of my curation of the Straight Out Of Brisbane Festival as a festival Content Manager, the website was launched along with discussion panels, zine exhbitis, live music and market stalls. The online zine archive and trade fair were generously supported by CATALYST, Straight Out of Brisbane Festival and Brisbane City Council. Whilst the design and web development of this project is very dated, the rare and unique local content it supported was a signficant medium in the Brisbane creative industries.

Datum Society

Contemporary Arts & Research Society

In 2005 at QUT Kelvin Grove I served as president of Datum: an association for visual arts students with an exhibition and art events programme providing opportunities for emerging career visual artists. As the senior curator I assisted my student cohort to gain formal exposure of their works in professional settings. Furthermore I ran the society technical and member operations as well as gaining funding and sponsorship from local industry. I developed a monthly exhibition program at QUT’s Creative Industries Precinct, QUT Art Museum and the Metro Arts Gallery and produced a compilation CD now selling in local independent record stores.
